In recent weeks, leaders from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have been making noise — loud and hollow — claiming that power outages have returned to Delhi ever since the BJP took charge. According to them, during their tenure, Delhi enjoyed an uninterrupted 24/7 electricity supply. Convenient narrative, isn’t it?
Unfortunately for them, reality — and the internet — tells a very different story.

The Narrative Crumbles Under Basic Scrutiny
The AAP wants people to believe that Delhi’s power crisis began overnight. But anyone who’s lived in the capital for the past decade knows that power cuts, both planned and unplanned, were a regular feature even under AAP’s rule. You didn’t have to dig too deep — just visit the official websites of Delhi’s discoms like BSES or TPDDL. You’ll find records of outages across the city, many of which stretched for hours, often without any prior notice.

From maintenance shutdowns to transformer failures and grid issues, Delhiites faced it all — and none of that is new.

My Own Posts Prove Them Wrong
Ironically, some of the best evidence against AAP’s claims came from my own social media history. Over the years, I’ve tagged BSES, the Delhi CM, and others about power outages in my area — sometimes during peak summer, sometimes late at night. At the time, it was just frustration. Today, those same posts serve as undeniable proof that AAP’s “24/7 electricity” boast is a myth.

The party seems to think voters won’t remember. But the internet remembers everything — especially when people have lived experiences to back it up.
Playing Voters for Fools
The most insulting part of AAP’s narrative isn’t just the lie — it’s the assumption that voters are gullible enough to believe it. In a city as connected and vocal as Delhi, where data is accessible and people share experiences in real-time, pushing this kind of misinformation is not just desperate — it’s arrogant.
Do they really believe no one will question them? Or that no one has receipts?
The Kejriwal-Friendly Media: Silent and Complicit
What’s equally shocking is the role of the Kejriwal-aligned media ecosystem. Instead of questioning the ex-CM’s claims or fact-checking the data, several media platforms chose to remain conveniently silent. Worse, they rolled out the red carpet for former CM Atishi to peddle these blatant falsehoods without challenge. No counter-questions, no verification — just a megaphone for manufactured narratives. This uncritical coverage allowed misinformation to spread unchecked, further misleading the public. Journalism should hold power to account — not become its mouthpiece.

Delhi Deserves Better
.Delhi’s residents don’t expect miracles. But they do expect honesty. Trying to rewrite the past with bold claims and selective memory is not just bad politics — it’s a disservice to the people. The AAP’s attempt to spin the power situation is a classic example of gaslighting in politics — trying to make people doubt their own lived experiences.
But it won’t work. Because Delhi remembers..
