Ah, here we go again—the Soros-backed brigade of “free speech defenders” at The Wire is back with another sermon. This time, they want the entire nation to stand up for Kunal Kamra, who, let’s face it, has built a career not on comedy, but on politically motivated, vile abuse. And yet, The Wire calls him a torchbearer of the Constitution. Really?
Where were these defenders of democracy when actual attacks on free speech were taking place? Oh right—they were silent, complicit, or worse, cheering from the sidelines.
Let’s rewind, shall we?
• When actress Ketaki Chitale was arrested under the Uddhav Thackeray regime for a Facebook post, where was this righteous outrage?
• When Kangana Ranaut’s house was demolished by BMC just because she spoke out, did The Wire write a teary editorial about freedom?
• When Arnab Goswami was thrown behind bars without due process, where were all these “free media” warriors? They celebrated it as justice.
• When a retired naval officer was beaten by Shiv Sena goons for forwarding a meme, not one word from this crowd.
But now, suddenly, when Kunal Kamra—the Left’s loudest megaphone, known for hurling cheap abuses at constitutional figures and mocking Hindu sentiments—is called out, the gang unites in righteous indignation. What changed? Oh right, it’s one of yours.
Let’s be clear—Kunal Kamra is not under attack for being a comedian. He is facing backlash for consistent, deliberate, and targeted political hate speech masquerading as comedy. Had a BJP-supporting artist made half the comments Kamra has, you’d be howling for arrest, FIRs, and bans.
So don’t insult our intelligence with this “free speech” farce. You don’t believe in free speech. You believe in controlled speech—speech that aligns with your narrative.
To all those defending Kamra today—Ravish Kumar, The Wire editors, the Lutyens echo chamber—let’s ask:
• Did you stand for Ketaki?
• Did you raise your voice for Arnab?
• Did you pen op-eds for Kangana?
• Did you protest for that retired naval veteran?
No. You didn’t. Because your commitment isn’t to free speech—it’s to political convenience.
And The Wire—let’s not pretend you’re the guardians of civil liberty. You routinely paint every pro-government voice as a fascist, demand bans on dissenters, and twist every narrative to fit your agenda. You cry “intolerance” while cheerleading cancel culture. You lecture India on democratic values while refusing to introspect your own newsroom biases.
Today, it’s not about Kunal Kamra. It’s about selective outrage. About how “freedom of expression” becomes a slogan only when your own get a taste of accountability.
You had no tears when opposition-ruled states crushed dissent. No editorials when Left-wing regimes throttled voices. But now, you want the whole country to rally for someone who calls elected leaders names and calls it “art”?
Sorry, we’re not buying it.
You’ve weaponized free speech, not defended it. And the country is watching.
No amount of articles, op-eds, or echo-chamber outrage can cover up your double standards anymore.
“Free speech isn’t a privilege for your political allies—it’s a right for all. You only defend it when it suits you. And that’s why the nation no longer trusts your fake moral compass or your paid outrage.”
