The Wire’s Shameless Whitewash: Covering Up AAP’s Corruption Instead of Reporting the Truth

Once again, The Wire, a mouthpiece for the deep state, has attempted to rewrite history and mislead the public. This time, they’ve put forward an article by Saqib O. Yatoo titled “The Welfare Trap: How AAP Failed to Understand Politics in Delhi.”
But make no mistake—this is not analysis; it’s pure propaganda designed to whitewash the real reason for AAP’s humiliating defeat in Delhi: unprecedented corruption at every level of the party.
AAP’s Downfall: A Welfare Trap or a Corruption Sinkhole?
The Wire claims AAP lost because they focused too much on welfare and didn’t grasp the political landscape. This is an outright lie. The real reason for their downfall is simple—Delhi voters had enough of a party that promised clean governance but instead became a corruption machine worse than the Congress it once opposed.
Let’s break down the truth that The Wire conveniently ignores:
The Liquor Scam: AAP’s biggest scandal yet—a ₹2000 crore liquor scam where liquor contractors allegedly paid huge bribes to AAP leaders in exchange for favorable policies. EX-Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Ex-Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, and multiple other AAP bigwigs were directly involved. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Kejriwal, proving that his so-called “clean image” was nothing but a marketing gimmick.
The Health Scam: Former Health Minister Satyendar Jain was caught in a massive money laundering case, exposed by the ED. This is the same person who claimed to be revolutionizing Delhi’s healthcare—while pocketing crores.
The Transport Scam: The Delhi government’s transport department was accused of widespread corruption, with illegal tenders and shady contracts benefiting AAP insiders.
The Waqf Board Scam: AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan was arrested for appointing his own people to the Delhi Waqf Board and illegally leasing out its properties.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Every major department under AAP’s control had some form of corruption scandal attached to it.
AAP: Masters of Corruption, Not Governance
The Wire wants you to believe that AAP’s failure was due to “too much welfare.” This is laughable. In their 10-11 years of ruling Delhi, AAP gave more excuses for not doing real work but never needed an excuse when it came to corruption.
From non-functional (also fake in most cases) Mohalla Clinics to questionable school projects, every welfare initiative was just a smokescreen for looting taxpayer money. Just like the Congress regime of the 2000s, which got mired in scams like CWG and 2G, AAP perfected the art of corruption while pretending to be different.
Delhi Voters Saw Through the Lies
AAP didn’t lose because they were “too focused on welfare.” They lost because the people of Delhi saw their true face—one of corruption, deceit, and hypocrisy. The same Kejriwal who once claimed to fight corruption ended up running one of the most corrupt regimes in Delhi’s history.
The Wire’s attempt to spin this as a failure of “welfare politics” is an insult to the intelligence of every Delhi voter who rejected AAP for what it truly is—a party of corrupts.
