Harsh Mander, once again, tries to peddle his trademark cocktail of victimhood, fiction, and selective outrage in his Scroll.in piece, “Where prayer is a crime.” Let’s call it what it is: a hit job, designed to demonize India, Hindu society, and the current government—backed by globalist dollars and domestic dynasts.

This isn’t journalism. It’s propaganda. And it’s time to expose it.

1. Praying in Public Spaces Without Permission is Illegal—For Everyone

Mander spins a tale of Muslims being criminalized for praying in India. Fact check:

  •  Namaz on roads, malls, and hospitals without permission is not religious freedom—it’s a public order violation.

  •  SC has ruled (2021) that no religion can claim exclusive rights to public space for worship.

  •  Whether it’s a Hindu jagran, Christian gospel choir, or Friday namaz, the law applies equally.

But Mander selectively reports only Muslim cases—classic fake news tactic.

2. This Is Not “Persecution.” It’s Law Enforcement.

Take the Taj Mahal mosque incident—3 youths were arrested for violating ASI norms in a protected heritage site. The law exists, has been enforced in multiple cases, and has nothing to do with faith.

Would Mander defend Hindus doing havan at Qutub Minar? Of course not. His outrage is highly selective—and suspiciously choreographed.

3. The Real Bigotry Is the Silence on Anti-Hindu Violence

Why does Mander never mention:

  •  Attacks on Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti processions in Bengal and Bihar?

  •  Blocking of Sikh and Hindu processions by Islamist mobs?

  •  Temple desecrations in Telangana and Kerala?

Because this man doesn’t deal in truth. He deals in narrative manipulation.

Harsh Mander is deeply linked with George Soros-funded NGOs and Congress ecosystem think tanks like the Rajiv Gandhi Institute for Contemporary Studies.
