The Wire’s Real Disgrace: A Vile Attack on India’s Vice President, and on Democracy Itself

“Democracy bleeds,” cries The Wire, as it butchers journalistic ethics on the altar of political vendetta.
Their latest article—brazenly titled “Dhankhar’s Disgrace: When the Vice President Becomes a Partisan Attack Dog”—is not just defamatory. It is a dangerous and deliberate attack on the dignity of India’s constitutional offices. When a Vice President, elected by Parliament under Article 66 of the Constitution, speaks about judicial overreach or the role of media, he is not “bleeding democracy”—he is defending its balance.
The Office of the Vice President: More Than a Figurehead
Let’s be clear: the Vice President is not a ceremonial mascot. He is the second-highest constitutional functionary in India and the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha, empowered to regulate debates, uphold parliamentary decorum, and ensure the accountability of institutions.
Under Article 90 and Article 93, the Vice President plays a crucial role in ensuring the legislature functions effectively. By attacking him in such derogatory language, The Wire is not just attacking a person—but the dignity of the Constitution itself.
Hypocrisy on Steroids: Selective Outrage of the Lutyens Media
Where was The Wire when former Vice President Hamid Ansari:
No articles then titled “Ansari’s Disgrace.” No editorial meltdowns. No chest-thumping about “bleeding democracy.”
But when Jagdeep Dhankhar—a man who rose from humble beginnings to become a Senior Advocate and a former Governor—raises institutional questions with constitutional backing, he’s called a “partisan attack dog”? This isn’t journalism. This is political propaganda in editorial disguise.
.
Dangerous Precedent: Language That Invites Legal Scrutiny
The Wire calls the Vice President a “disgrace” and an “attack dog”—language that violates Section 356 of BNS (Defamation) and potentially under BNS Section 152 if it’s proven that this is an intentional attempt to incite public hatred against a constitutional authority.
Freedom of speech isn’t a free pass to abuse constitutional positions. Even Press Council of India guidelines (Clause 1, Part A) state that language against individuals in high office must be restrained and respectful—especially if based on opinion, not fact.
This is not just a violation of norms; it’s a legal breach begging for prosecution.
Who Is Really Bleeding Democracy?
India’s democracy isn’t bleeding because a Vice President has a spine. It’s bleeding because elite-funded digital pamphlets like The Wire are allowed to spread venom unchecked.
Their selective amnesia about constitutional decorum, their constant targeting of Hindu festivals, Indian traditions, military operations, and now even constitutional offices, shows that this is not journalism—it’s information warfare on behalf of a collapsing political ecosystem.
The Wire Has a History of Lies
Let us not forget:
And yet they parade around as “independent media” while being funded by foreign NGOs, Soros-linked organisations, and entities whose sole aim is to disrupt India’s democratic mandate.
.
Time for Legal and Institutional Action
We at Media Expose in, demand:
You may disagree with policies. You may debate governance. But when you insult the very offices that anchor India’s democracy, you’ve declared war on the Constitution itself.
And let me say this clearly—you will be exposed, point by point, lie by lie.
